Cleaning our baseboards is something not a lot of us do regularly. That is until we finally realize how dirty they have gotten the one time of the year we take a look at them.
Those tiny little corners and ridges can rack up some serious dust and mold fairly quickly without us even realizing it. All that buildup can make your otherwise squeaky-clean house looking shabby.
The solution to this is regular cleaning. However, the idea of cleaning your baseboards is not the most exciting one. Yet it is one of those things that once completed can leave your house looking fresh and sparking to a T.
To make things easier, we have 5 cleaning tips and hacks to make tidying up those baseboards less of a chore for you.
Use a Vacuum or a Mini Broom
If your baseboards do not need thorough cleaning and you only need a bit of dusting, vacuuming or using a broom is the way to go.
The benefit of using a vacuum to clean your baseboards is that you won’t have to bend down or squat.
But if you want a more thorough dusting, you can use a mini broom or a paintbrush. This would allow you to easily reach the ledges and sweep off any dust residing there.
Going even further, you can also use your vacuum after the broom or brush to clean off any dust that has fallen on the floor.
Grab Some Cleaning Wipes
If your house is small and you don’t have a lot of surface area to work with, or if you are just short on time, cleaning wipes are the way to go.
All you have to do is grab some cleaning wipes and wipe until your baseboards are cleaned to your liking.
Work with Magic Eraser
Magic Erasers are a versatile tool to have in your cleaning arsenal. These sponges can be used for a bunch of cleaning purposes around the house, including your baseboards.
Grab a stack of Magic Erasers and a bucket of warm water. Add dish soap if you are working with painted baseboards. Dip your eraser in the water bucket, wring it out, and let the sponge work its magic (pun intended).
Don’t Forget the Nooks and Crannies
The nooks and crannies are the hardest part of cleaning baseboards.
One way to make this task easier is to use a cotton swab dipped in a cleaning solution. This is a simple yet effective way to reach even the hardest of spots and get a more detailed cleaning.

Protect Your Baseboards
Once the cleaning is done, it is now time to protect your baseboards from future dirt and grime for as long as possible. This can be done by rubbing your baseboards with a dryer sheet.
Dryer sheets leave a dust repelling layer on your baseboards and protect them against further buildup. This is an especially good option if you have pets and pet hairs to deal with.
With these cleaning tips in mind, you’ll no longer have to break your back to clean your baseboards. Get a cleaner, more beautiful home in no time at all!
